UK Forces Seize Russian Shadow Fleet Tanker in English Channel
Starmer revealed the operation via the US social media platform X, stating he had personally ordered the action in the early morning hours.
"In the early hours of this morning, I directed our Armed Forces to intercept a shadow fleet oil tanker attempting to pass through the English Channel," he said.
The prime minister declared the mission a success and framed it as a direct warning to those backing Russia's ongoing war in Ukraine.
"This successful operation delivers yet another blow to Russia and reminds those fueling Putin's war in Ukraine that we will not let them hide," he said.
Starmer also extended his gratitude to the servicemen and women who carried out the interception.
"I want to thank those involved, including our Armed Forces and law enforcement officers who keep this country safe 24 hours a day, 365 days a year," he added.
